The Canadian serial number is 15T-001537.

It looks like a 750 to me but the guy says it's a 650.

    Thanks all,

    Apato

You can look at the front of the engine case (between exhaust pipes #2 & #3) and find the cc rating. There should be some numbers right at the head & cylinder joint.

    Cheers

It's a 750. You can look on the front of the motor between #2 and #3 pipes and see 748 CC.
The side cover, 2 discs , and the shape of the grab bar say "750".
    And the adjustable pegs.

the is definately an 82-83 XJ750 Maxim I got about 5 points on that bike to tell me it is not a 650
    1. 750 style "grab bar: (The 750 had a 3 piece style grab bar so you can add a backrest where the black piece is)

    2. 750 style handlebars (The 750 had 2 seperate handlebars that are adjustable)

    3. 750 style side covers (The 750 has that metal surround whereas the 650 whas all plastic)

    4. Dual Disk in front (only came on 750 and up)

    5. Airbox side cover style (The 750 had a side cover that was black plastic, relatively wide, and one solid piece......the 650 had eith a skinny plastic one piece or a two piece where it was wider but the top piece was chrome)

I can't help with the bike capacity, but why would the PO say it's a 650 - Is there a different licence bracket or cheaper insurance for the smaller bike?

Thanks all. I agree. It must be a 750 I don't know why he thinks otherwise. The insurance is probably slightly cheaper. I think he just doesn't know much about the bike.

I guess it would depend on the ins. company. I pay the same amount for my 1100 as I did for my 650.

Nobody picked up on the two square headlights? That should have been a dead giveaway right there.

As for the bike in Orlando -- round headlight and the apparent lack of two front discs tells me it's not a 750.
