    Can anyone tell me if a xj550 tank will fit a xj750 maxim.

    I'm sorry let me give you the full story. I bought an 82 xj 750 maxim that a guy tried to make a bobber out of. He took off the original tank and replaced it with a harley sportster tank. Needless to say I don't like the tank and would like to replace with something more original. The tank I found is off of a 82 xj550. Thanks

    I think it will, but I believe it is more like the size of the 650...which is one reason I got a 750 tank...larger capacity

    550 tanks won't fit the 650/750 frames properly.............distance between the front and rear mounting points is different........
