    any xjer's in da up?

and boy, 9 hours from home sucks, getting to the bridge isnt even half way there uugghh!

but i got my seca 750 home, bought a set of PERFECT carbs for it for 50 bucks, its been completely rebuild, new parts everywhere! slides fall faster than bush's approval ratings....

Glad you are up at the seat of learning.
BTW what about Nobama's ratings, they are going down faster than a Brooklyn ho's drawers.

Schooter, if you see obama up there tell him I am still waiting for my XJ1300 and a new 240" Plasma tv. :)

Seriously though, congratulations on entering the next step in your life. Work as hard as you can then work some more while you are there. It will pay off later

    Rob

Schooter, the hours the Yamaha dealer keeps most likely wont work well with school but if it did that would be cool. My youngest brother just picked up a side job at the Cincinnati Airport dropping off lost bags and such. Says he made about $300 for about 5 hours worth of work yesterday....

Schooter, keep your nose in the books and get through school. A solid education is key to success in life.
As for the stealer-ship, I've swept floors (and other unpleasant tasks) at shops after hours to earn the bro' discount and use of the facilities to sustain my addiction. You might make a similar offer.

Good goin' Schooter! Remember to keep your GPA greater than your blood alcohol level. Ahh dorm life, I remember it well...couldn't wait to get there, couldn't wait to leave.

Don't lose your passport, you'll need it to get home :)

Good going, Schooter!!! Make sure you get that degree. I quit when I joined the Air Force ansd said I'd finish when I got out. Never happened. Life did instead. I'm 43 years old now and the kids coming out of the local Voc-Tech with an AAS degree make mopre than me with 20 years experience!!! And I am not the one asking questions and looking for help!!!

Go forth and conquer, young man!!

    Good luck Schooter!
The government can re-distribute wealth, but they can't touch your knowledge.

Hey alkasmeltzer...only 43? You got plenty of time to go back to school and get some "paper backing".
Speaking from experience, the typical student won't have a prayer with your curve busting experience and some life lessons under your belt.

I'm in the process of signing up for a couple spring classes myself to further my degree.
It doesn't happen overnight but it will never happen if you don't start.

Mike, I had planned on starting classes this fall semesster, but a little bit of surgery and resultant medical bills has killed that idea for a while. Life just keeps coming at me!!!!

    Way to go, Schooter!

The male/female ratio at MTU is pretty dismal, so you will have to work extra hard to impress the ladies (shine that bike up!)... Take some time to visit Da Yoopers Tourist Trap in Ishpeming (about an hour drive towards Marquette). Go up to the Keweenaw for some good nature sight-seeing, and awesome twisties.

The mosquitoes are pretty rugged up there. If you watch them closely, you will see them pass out silverware and menus right before they swarm you. I suggest bringing a baseball bat, or better yet -- a flamethrower.

    ahh, the (fuzzy) memories.....

I attended MTU for about 2 years and then transferred to NMU... Graduated from high school in Lake Linden, which is about 10 miles from Houghton.
Good times.... I still keep telling myself that I won't touch another can of Strohs for as long as I live.

Hit the ground running, up there at College, Schooter.
    Discipline yourself to achieve.

As soon as you hit Campus; make for the Bookstore.

Buy yourself a New, 7th Edition of Kate L. Turabian's "A Manual for Writing"

That's the best advice I can give you other than vowing to yourself to remain sober for your entire Freshman Year.
Put a solid Freshman Year in the bank and you stay in the race.

+1 on Discipline being the key!
I remember an orientation gathering freshman year.

The professor said "look at the person to your right, and then your left"
Only ONE of you will earn a diploma.

It wasn't me....until almost 20 years later. Go slowly if you need to but KEEP GOING. It is damn near impossible to go back.

I had a good friend that was sober for the entire freshman year (he got great grades)...
The next year my best friend and he were roomates and were coined the dorm drunks by the freshmen on the floor. They got the last laugh when they posted their two 18 credit report cards with a straight 4.0 for the semester on their door.
He learned how to study and then how to play.
