Sorry guys I know shocks have been discussed numerous times on here but i haven't been able to find the answer to my questions.

Ok so I'm looking to lower my bikes as much as possible without hardtailing it. Got a few questions first though. I'm lookin at going with 10.5" sportster shocks, but I'm wandering if those will bottom out when im riding. I'm 6'2" 235 lbs. so im a fairly large guy is this gonna be a problem with those shocks.

Also I have searched ebay over and can't seem to find any cheap 10.5" shocks most are around $100.00 or more, but i can find 11"-11.5" for less than $50.00. My question is how much difference will it make going with these instead of the 10.5" ones? In other words is a 1" shorter shock gonna get u exactly 1" more drop in the rear. Or is it gonna be more or less due to the angle of the shock.

Are there any other suggestions that u guys think will work better than the sportster shocks?

    Thanks,
    Adam

I just got a set of Suzuki savage shocks on eBay. They're being shipped to me. I'll take some before and after pics when I get them.

Anything will work better than Sportster shocks. Go out any buy good Koni's so that your tires stay in contact with the road.

And, yes, at 235 lbs, most shocks will bottom out.

I have 10.5 HD on mine and they are way stiff, I doubt they would bottem out. The thing isn't too far off from a hardtail ;)

I'm a 6'3' 229lbs and my seca750 with original shocks are just perfect. They never bottom out. I have the spring set up on the 3 position and the dampenning on #3. When I ride with my wife I set everything on 4 and it is just fine.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Libertas are your shocks just regular sportster shocks or are they something else? LIke i said i wanna get this thing as low as i can without hardtailing it. I would just hardtail it but i like long rides through twisty roads to good for that.

If you crank them to the Highest Spring Pre-load you might be OK.

(Razor-cut a Automotive Shock Bushing and add it to your Shock as a "Travel Stop" ... a dab of Epoxy would keep it from falling-off.)

I'm 5'8" or 5'9" but I guess I have longer legs than you. Maybe your torso is big and have short legs. When I had my stock seat, my feet touched the ground but I could not plant my feet, but wasn't on my tip toes either.

Anyhow, the stock lenght on 750 seca is 12.75"
