I just removed my steering head bearing off a 81 750r seca. The upper and lower ball bearing cups came out with two hits with a punch. I've read on the site that the race are something of a problem to get out. Am i missing something or did I just have good luck. Holding off instaling the new tappered bearing until I get some feed back incase I left something inside. dont think i did though. Finaly some good luck with this bike.

Ball bearing races are far easier to remove than tapered bearing cups in most cases. And it should be pretty obvious that you've removed everything from the headstock.

Looks like you got lucky - nice one

Make sure you assemble the entire front end before you torque the fork pinch bolts and top clamp nut. The front gaurd acts as a fork brace and if you fully tighten the top clamp / forks before you fit the front wheel and gaurd you may run into alignment problems (IE the forks may not be straight in the clamps).

Take your time and double check all the bolts (especially the caliper).
