Just turned 60,000 on my bike, and aside from a few rattles it rides great.
I do have a small very insignificant oil leak on the right side. Seems to come from the bottom of the engine side cover, everythings torqued so I have no idea where its coming from. The amount of oil lost is so insignificant I usually just wipe off the side plates and exhaust every so often. But any ideas where it could be coming from would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Oil leaks add character!!! ok weeps do, leaks need to be fixed ASAP. Sucks to go into a nice corner only to have you crash in your own oil.

Mine's started doing that oil weeping thing too. It's not a leak, just a very light amount of oil just under the gasket cover in a few areas, it's not even dripping. I need to check the valve clearances after this season's over, so I'll take care of it then.

As for why? When I park the bike in the college campus motorcycle parking area, occasionally I'll have a Harley or two parked on either side. I think my Maxim is just trying it's best to lounge with the big boys and mark its spot too. :p

At 60.000 Miles, it's likely to be the O-ring Seal in the Oil Level Sender.
That thing's been inn there 25 years and subject to extreme conditions.
Living above the exhaust collector places that component part in the worst of all possible environments.

After a day of hard riding in the heat and getting stuck in traffic without a breeze to help cool-off things ... my Oil Sender will seep a few drops of Oil that wind-up right under the bike near the side stand.

Am I going to struggle with exhaust, drain the oil and pull the Oil Level Sender to make the Bike stop depositing a drop or two of Oil right in the same place, every night.

    No.

I know where to place half the plastic case a roll of Black Electrical Tape came in.

Note: 60K is the Limit on the Cam Chain.
