Hello all - I was doing some modifications and took off the rear signals. Now the fronts won't work. Is this a relay issue or some kind of load issue?

    Thanks

Load issue within the flasher "relay".....it needs a certain amount of electrical load in order to flash.

I wondered about that - perhaps a new flasher relay would solve the issue?

    Thanks

Well - switching to an electronic flasher will fix the flashing issue, but you lose the auto cancelling feature.

Also - I thought turn signals were required by law now - didn't think you could get away without them anymore?

not sure on the law - I think in Ohio its not required but i could be wrong.

i'm looking at a universial flasher now.

I believe turn signals are required by Federal Motor Vehicle standards on any motorcycle manufactured from 1975 on. Whether Ohio actively enforces the standards is another matter.

I have been pulled over by the Michigan State Police before because my Norton didn't have its headlight on; all I had to do was explain (and quickly prove) that the motorcycle was manufactured prior to 1975, and therefore not required to be fitted with an "always on" light. (Same set of standards.)

On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
I've noticed some moped/scooters don't have an always on light.
    they are new, too
