I've been working on the '82 xj650 that I recently bought. After work I ride around the local back roads practicing. I currently don't have a motorcycle endorsement on my drivers license.

Tonight I was just home from work and getting ready to fire up the xj for my jaunt around the neighborhood when a couple in a car pulled up and asked if I had seen a small white dog. I told them that I hadn't, but I had only just arrived home from work. They gave me a flyer that they had made with a picture of the dog and contact info etc.

Ten minutes later I'm riding and look off to my left and see a small white dog. I turned around and headed down the side road and pull up to it. It takes off running away heading toward a main road. There was a fence, but I couldn't tell if there was any place a small dog could get through. Luckily there wasn't. The dog was basically cornered and just sitting there.

I pulled out the flyer that I hadn't looked at closely before. I was 99% sure this was the missing dog. I called the number and told the guy that I think I had found their dog.

I had a helluva time attempting to tell give the guy directions to a place that consists of a ton of 1/4 mile streets that I don't know the names to. I didn't want to leave where I was at because the dog could head back out of the corner and around to where there was no fence and tons of traffic.

There was also some woman who walked up to the dog, ignoring that it was in a corner and pissed/scared. That little dog sent her running. She said something to me and I told her I had the owners on the phone.

Anyway, the guy and his wife finally make it and pull up to me. I pointed to the dark corner of the lot and she starts to walk over there. If you could play that scene in slow motion and put music to it, it would've been like a movie. She started running toward the dog and the dog did the same.

What strikes me about this event was how happy the guy and his wife were. I don't think I've ever seen, in person, two people so happy and relieved. It was something that I doubt I'll forget soon.

I declined the several offers of the cash reward. Yeah, I know it sounds like I'm bragging but I'm not. I was just amazed at how happy they were to see their dog again. I guess you had to be there. :D
