OK so my XJ900 is leaking from the overflow pipes on No3 and No 4 carbies. I've pulled the rack and discovered that a previous owner has been in there and obviously had no idea what he was doing. The float heights range from 25-35 mm. So I attempt to set them to 22mm only to find that if I bend the tangs up to reach this setting, the needle comes well out and then turns out slightly and the top edge of the needle catches on the tang thereby jamming the float. The previuos owner seems to have lost 3 of the tiny springs that connect to the top of the needles. No 1 carb still has its spring. Is this my problem? Can I buy them separately? Also how do I adjust fuel level height without altering the float height setting? Thanks for your patience! Adrian

A good thought....but sadly no....I've come to a standstill at the moment...the float heights of all the carbs are well over the 22mm spec so if I adjust them down won't that raise my float level even higher ie more fuel before the float turns it off?
