well got my carbs from timski, thanks! and i was messin with them, and I noticed they dont go clunk like the video posted on here, until you take the hats off, then they fall fast. methinks its like a vaccuum keeping them up, think of a cup around ur mouth, if you place it there and suck a little air out, or in the carbs case, push air out form the diaphram, then it resists being pulled off, our down. get what im saying? Is that whats going on here? or should they fall like rocks wit hthe hats on?

I have the same thing with my carbs, if you take the hats off then they clunk. And I think you are right, however if you have the hats on, and they clunk then I would say you have a hole in one of the diaphrams.

They should 'clunk' with the caps on.

Hats on they don't clunk as fast. And if you cover the big port at the intake side, you slow the clunk down further. And make sure you don't fold over a corner of one of the diaphragms. ( I did that, it basically de-activates one carb)

And don't just endlessly soak stuff in Simple Green.

simple green is great for cleaning, but make sure it is rinsed off thouroghly or else it will accelerate corosion, especially on aluminum.
i made that mistake with an old honda engine once it coroded up so bad it never looked the same again.

Schooter; Unless you plan to break the rack and completely strip them including throttle shaft seals, don't submerge the whole assembly in anything. Soak things like the float bowls that you take off, but not the whole carb unless you're breaking it down all the way.
