Hey I was wondering what you all are doing for replacement rotors. The other question is has anyone tried to put modern sport bike front end?

    Thanks

Well, I got an original OEM part from a dealer for about $300AUS, only to discover later that aftermarket parts are available, with pads for about $215 here. You can also get them via the sites supplier Chacal, see the add in the left upper corner XJ4ever. His prices are very favourable. For example, I need a replacement generator brush holder, price $140AUS local or about $50US from Chacal. It is cheaper for me to order many items from the US via Chacal then obtain them here is Aus from local sources. You guys in the US get everything so cheap! In short, order it via Chacal on this site. Scott J

I cant remember what Bike has the same Rotor.

The 900 has been deleted from Yamaha Parts.

I'm not aware of anyone who has converted the 900 Nose.
    I'd like a new Front-end.
The problem with the 900's Nose wasn't Forks.
It was poor aerodynamics and a loosely mounted fairing.

After 112 mph ... the fairing would begin to oscillate as wind resistance
would react to the on-rushing air. For a moment it would "Lift" and draw the Fairing toward where the pressure acted upon the Faring as a Wing.

    But the Fairing wasn't anchored.
The Fairing wouldn't maintain its shape and cause the "Wing" to lose lift ... and, alternately lift and spoil in opposing directions until the instability caused handling adventures.

Naw, they've just changed the listing to: SECA - XJ900RK. It's sorted by S rather than X.

They seem to be changing their listings to the name rather than model number. Guess they got to the 900.

    Thanks Micarl:

    That's good to know!
I'm taking the Nose off my 900 for a Winter project to replace Headset Bearings.
As I work my way back to putting it all-together; I plan on upgrading everything and replacing what's there to replace.

    I thought Yam dropped support.
Not that there's much support left.

I know that they deleted the anti dive off the 84 model and thought that it must have been because of poor performance. I have to rebuild the forks should I go with aftermarket springs for the internals?

Thanks guys you all are great help with this project.

I adapted the 900's rear brake system and wheels onto my Turbo Seca....The 900 rear rotor was out-of-spec, so I just used a extra Turbo Seca front rotor I had laying around and used that. The 900's had vented discs, but I've had no problem so far with the solid disc it actually works pretty good! And you can get turbo front rotors on ebay for fairly cheap.

I talked to a guy from Race-Tech suspension last July at the vintage days at Mid-Ohio, and he was rebuilding the shocks off the XJ900 that has the turbo fairing adapted to it (another thread somewhere) he knows the guy fairly well....anyways they make a nice emulator now for the 900 and 650 Turbo 37mm forks, maybe others too now I'm not sure. I was going to get a set for next spring, I think they are a little over a $100 but well worth it I hear! Oh yea--- Race-Tech also makes higher quality Japanese made progressive springs that are better than the Chinese made ones for $70.
