I like the looks of the round headlight vs. the rectangular headlight and I really dislike the rectangular instruments on my 82 Seca, so this weekend I chucked them both and installed a round Honda headlight and made up a mount using the bracket from the original instruments for a GPS unit and also the blinker, nuetral, high beam lights.

After you identify the proper headlight wires going in to the Atari, this is a very easy mod. I recorded which are the proper wires for the headlight if anyone needs that info.

    Here some pictures.

Yep, its my speedo and I can see whats around the next bend. I also made some clear rain gear for it that I keep where the old security chain used to be stored.

Only downside is the lack of a tach. Still, if you could find a GPS with a tachometer, I'd so have one on my bike.

simple, functional, does it have a tach function? Maybe the information you have annotated would be helpful to attach to the link. Noticed the trim ring on the tank lip. is it a tape or a u channel?

Excellent job - looks very clean - I like it alot!

Loss of the tachometer I can understand, and even live with -- but how'd you get around the loss of the Odometer? I thought it's required by law pretty much everywhere in North America to have a tamper resistant non-resettable odometer on there?

I could be wrong, but I think after a vehicle reaches a certain age, motor vehicle is willing to accept "TMU" for the mileage. Means true mileage unknown. I've seen tons of old cars for sale in the local papers that say that.

Uhh....Ohhhh. I hope Wesley is right about the TMU regarding mileage. I'm showing my ignorance here, but I didn't even think of that. I'll have to check with DMV. Maybe I'll have to look into modifying my plate for a round speedo and the GPS unit. I started out installing a round speedo, but the used one I bought didn't work.

Joshua - The trim on the tank has been on the forum before, not my idea. It is automobile door edge trim available at Autozone. You get two strips, enough to do one tank for under 5 USD.

very nice, i like those idiot lights i need one for my turn signals
i left a space under the speedo but haven't got around to it yet
i found the gps needs to be tilted to reflect my black jacket, sky reflections wash the screen out, no problem with the speedo
i wish i could hear it

The mileage is usually only an issue if you go to sell it. Atleast that's what I was told when I asked AZ DMV about changing from lights to gauges in my 94 jeep.

Maybe a super small mechanical tach on the right and speedo on the left?

i dont know if this is how it is in all states but here according to the title if the model is more than 9 years old its mileage exempt. when you transfer the title it just says EXEMPT under mileage

Here's what's unfair- - it's a felony to tamper with odometer readings, but after 10 years in FL, the gov'mnt deletes this prized info from their databases, and inserts EXEMPT on everyone's title.

It almost seems like the DMV is committing a felony !
