Currently own a beautifully redone (by me) 85 maxim x and an 86 honda magna v45 with parts bike. I found an 84 v65 for 600 locally and it just needs a carb clean and tins put back on. I'm probably going to buy it this weekend. I turned my nose up at another max x in NJ for 400, hope this isn't a trend....

That 6th gear is a pretty big pull for me too. Doesn't it bother people that you are above 5k when you ride on the highway?

It bugs me to no end to take my x on the highway. One of the reasons I went out and found my v45. Straight line, my magna is the bike I'm riding, twisties, it's the x.

Witch bike is quicker in a straight line from a dead stop through the gears?

I think the x is through 2nd gear. The v65 I think would wipe both the v45 and max x. I decided not to go with this v65, even at the price because the guy had it all torn apart, electrial pieces off etc, etc. Not something I am in the mood for now.
