Wrote a blog yesterday after a funny incident with a yuppy on a harley. Please don't get me wrong... a bike is a bike. Even a scooter but they are like fat girls... fun to ride but you don't want your buddies to see you on one. I actually like the feel of a harley but love yammies and kawies. Click the link to read my blog and either answer the poll or reply... or both. Just a matter of discussion and killing boredom while it rains outside.

I would say you are a crank and prolly a bit on your own island. You come off sounding a bit jealous of the wealth and education that these "drivers"have.I say live and let live, dont burn yourself up worrying about what others have or dont have.If they scoff at you what do you care?According to you they are the ignorant ones.Do you really care what ignorant people think of you and your lifestyle? I do not.If they have earned enough money thru their hard work and education they have every right to play "Harley dress up guy".Let them enjoy it as much as you enjoy being the "purist" biker that you fancy youself as.

    +1 crank!

Never sweat the small stuff! BTW, it's all small stuff!

Another little gem that I apply to daily situations is: Never try to teach a pig to sing. It frustrates you and it annoys the pig. Works for most every situation you can come think of.

If the Harley dude is happy, or even if he's unhappy, it should have zero effect on your life. Be happy with who you are, be polite to the dude, and get on with your life.

    I think you hit the nail right on the head.I love hogs,especially the sound.Had a bobber style sporty for a few years--no front fender,chopped rear fender,hand shift,12" z-bars,velocity stack,lowered 4",etc.

Believe it or not,I was actually embarrassed to be seen on it by those on non hogs, cause I felt like they were seeing me as another one of those non riding yuppie douchebags.Around here tho,it seems like almost every bike I see is a new or close to new hog

I feel more comfortable rolling my ancient, beat up japanese bikes than my super cool, custom hog. Then again,I'm the first to admit that I'm pretty weird and downright f#cked up in the head 8)

Here is my comment I posted on Chuckles blog!!!!

Well guys as I said you ride to ride no matter what you ride I always owned Harleys and will always own one but the thing is on this one is the fact that Harley ruined the HARLEY image well I should not even say image. People are just plain stupid when it comes to bikes. I own a 2003 dyna wide glide and I actually do prefer my xj 1100 imagine 28000$ plus 6000$ in extras and my old 1400$ xj gives me and my wife way more pleasure I ride to ride as I said I go on many many long trips a year plus always put over 1ooo kms a weekend. So all this to say yes some Harley owners are a** ho*** but hey we live in a messed up world. Its the same as the guy's on a V-Star and trying to make them look like harleys. Harleys marketed the product well so anyone who wants a jacket now a days will go pick one up or just imagine how many dogs are names Harley in this era lolololol. Well again sorry for going on so long and sorry for my spelling and grammar English is my 3rd language.

Right on... I don't have a problem with harleys and never meant that... and I grew up around bikers and harleys. I can't say I am jealous because I genuinely like old japanese in line 4 (or 3) cylinder bikes and I think the in line motors look great on rat bobbers. But some of you are right... I am definitely a crank at times. It doesn't matter what the person rides or who is riding it... just annoying to see it done for image when the skill is compramised... makes for danger for everyone around that person. And Its the people who have the bikes for image and suddenly they are "harley guys" and look down on anything but harley and their riders. And I have worked hard for everything I have and own all of it out right. I spent enought on my couch and bed mattress to afford a sportster... throw in the money I blow on my foreign bikes and I could buy a dyna. I do love the dyna and 1200 sportsters.
So... thanx so much for all the comments and definitely didn't mean to offend anybody. Just had a crab up my ass and this is the result.
I will say this... I live to ride and you are right... I can probably do a lot more focusing on that.

I went riding last Sunday morning with my neighbor. He hasn't started his Harley in 4 months. It took about an hour of fartin' around with battery charger, fresh gas, starter fluid. . .the bike dropped about a pint of black oil on the driveway. He said his custom, hot-rodded 1984 bike was worth about $8,000. After cleaning my hands, I fired up my Seca 900 and we had a nice ride. You gotta let these guys figure it out for themselves.

I voted disagree because,,, to each his/her own,,, I don't swear by any brand, but some people do. You live in the Northland so you should understand "toys" snowmobiles, 4-wheeler's etc. It's a weekend hobby for most folks.

I will agree that accessorizing yourself from head to toe in franchise clothing CAN qualify you for 'douschebag' status. But that guy was at least well protected, that's more than most.

Maybe someday I will get a Yamaha t-shirt or something. Maybe a UJM one.

People should be able to ride and wear whatever the heck they want (this even includes the "yuppies" pretending to be Sons of Anarchy). This joker with his comment, however, is a different matter and probably deserved a dirt nap.

On Sunday's, I take the plate of the Max and tie-wrap it on to the 900 and go hunting for those guys.
    I just follow them around.
When it comes time to make a turn; they slow down and I go by.
Then, I let them pass me and do it all over again.

RickCo! You tie your Maxim plate to the 900???? Fer shame fer shame fer shame! (use your best Jim Nabors voice) Isn't that violating the laws of the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts?

You'd probably get life at hard labor if you got caught committing such a serious felonious act!

In Washington, where NO INSURANCE of any kind is required for a motorcycle, they would get you for no plates, no registration, affixing improper plates, and if you crossed the bridge into Oregon they would tack on no insurance.

The fine in OR for no insurance is $900 plus the cost to tow your vehicle, plus impound fees, plus storage fees plus you would have to file an SR22 and maintain mandatory insurance even if you don't own a car or a bike for several years. You would be looking at over $2000!

I can't even imagine what the penalties would be in MA.

BTW the squidders come to WA to do their high speed highway runs so they don't get the no insurance ticket and their rides impounded.

Be careful and don't get caught! We don't want to be getting repair tips from you in your cell!

The slickest solution is to "Historic Vehicle" plate the ones you don't ride too often. Almost every state offers some sort of perpetual license program for old vehicles nowadays and it can save you a pile of cash.

In Michigan, you can get an "Historic Vehicle" plate OR register an original license plate from the year of the vehicle. I have an original 1974 plate on my Norton.

No one has mentioned the possibility of being involved in an accident, remote though it may be. Even though you may not be at fault for the accident, the argument could be made effectively that had your unregistered vehicle not been where it was not supposed to be, there wouldn't have been an accident.....so fault lies with you.
And distance from home doesn't matter. My son was t-boned pulling into the driveway a few years back. Anything can happen any time.
And remember what Forrests Mother always said.
    Lets all be careful!
