    VERY nice.

    1. IMMEDIATELY check the back brake for delamination, see: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15874/ THIS IS TRULY IMPORTANT you don't want to wreck this beautiful bike!

2: Check and adjust the valves: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14827.html

3: When you lube the chain, watch for it to "bleed" red. If that starts happening, replace the chain. If it's rusted internally it will fail in short order; I had the issue with my "low-mileage looked gorgeous" Seca 550.

Thank you all very much. it is a pretty bike. I did pay $1300, which is pretty high for this bike, but i could not resist. I did not want to do a restoration, i wanted something that was ready for fun.

I will do both of these this weekend. as for the valve adjustment, i have been reading that one over, the bike has 10,000 miles on it so i am sure it needs it., but it starts up and runs so well right now, I am afraid of messing it up. i do need to replace the valve cover gasket........so may just give it a shot. I have always heard" if its not broke don't fix it."

    She's a beauty.
I had the same seat on my Bike.

Every time I came to a stop. I'd be partially on the Fuel Tank.
    Welcome to the Cult.

When you replace the valve cover, replace the rubber "donuts" on the bolts too, they're what actually press the cover down. The bolts have stop collars to prevent overtightning.

While you're in there, you can CHECK all the clearances without a chance of messing anything up. Then when you discover a tight valve or two (my Seca 550 with 7100 original miles had 7 out of 8 needing adjustment) you can correct it before you then mess anything up just by riding it. It WILL be broke if you fail to properly maintain it; 10K is right at the edge of disaster if it's never been touched.

Curious about the back tire, is it mounted correctly? It appears, appears, that it is mounted backwards. The front looks correct, but I'd check the directional arrow on the rear...
