    G'day,

I have come across a 93' XJ600 front end, forks, caliper, disc, all in good nick, and cheap too! I want to buy them and am considering a straight bolt on to my 82' XJ650RJ.

from the net i gathered the following info:

    1993 YAMAHA XJ 600 specs
    Front suspension: Telescopic forks, 38mm
    Front brake: 320mm Single disc

    1982 YAMAHA XJ 650 specs
    Front suspension: Telescopic forks, 36mm
Front brake: 2x268mm disc 1 piston calipers

Although there is 2mm difference in fork diameter, would it be o.k to still bolt on without modification?

I am not sure if people have done something similar, or if there are pitfalls I am unaware of,

would be happy for any suggestions,
    cheers

Why fit a single disc (Even if you changed the yokes over).

How about better pads if they are the issue?

The reason for my initial interest was that there is a knocking in my forks, even after all the bearings have been done, and i am thinking that the slides inside the lower fork leg are worn. And also the front end has been advertised for $10 AUD.

I was hoping that for that price I would get better forks and a better front brake, which functions pretty well as it is though.

I followed the link to the xj with the FZ600 front end, maybe I should keep an eye out for something like that.

    cheers

buy that front end, I'd sway it over, theres an amazing difference in 10 years of suspension, also, that one disc may be as good, dare I say better, im not sure though, as dual xj disc.. FYI
