Will the Gauge assembly from an 82 xj550 maxim work on an 82 xj750 maxim? It seems to have all the necessary elements(signal marker, fuel level etc...) but is just smaller and rounder than the 750's big ass fish finder. Any help would be appreciated, other replacement suggestions maybe?

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't. All it would mean is mapping the wiring properly. Make sure you check the wiring diagram for the bike and mark / label all of the wires. I would verify them with a tester light as well. I.E. cut what you believe to be the signal light wire, attach the tester and fire up the signal lights to make sure you've got the right wire.

I've learned never to trust a wiring diagram. :) But I transplated a 650 maxim gauge cluster onto a 750 seca, no trouble. I can't see why it would be any different for you.

It will swap. I've got both gauges in the garage and access to the harness schematics. We can hack this together MCI and it'll be fairly easy. Then we can get together on what you are going to do with that 750 cluster (I LOVE the way they look on my 82 Seca, I'd like to do the same for my 81). Get your XJCDs out and let's start piecing this together.
