lol rob, my stupidity really amazes me, I'm home, camera's 9 hours away at college, the SOONEST i can get pics is dec 14 or so.

    I'll describe it.

    headpipes-no rust , blueing on 3&4 pipes

collector, outside chrome parts are very nice, umm i havend actually checked the box, it should be all intact, this bike only has 1900 miles.

now the mufflers arent the best, both have rust on the inside, but the left side is actually quite nice, i'm going to hit em up wiht coke and tinfoil, should get rid of alot of the inside stuff, thres absolutely no visible rust.
the right side of my bike isnt so fortunate.. it siffered a nice acid bath someone in its life, thres rust on the swingarm, andf some of the frame, and some acid got on the mufflers, thus removing chrome, while this part didnt rust, its kinda black, and wont go away, though its at the top of the muffler and isnt really visible 5 feet away, its there

also, on said adic muffler, the back end cap that is black isnt very pretty, i didnt have good sanding stuff at the location of the bike so i wire brushed it and painted it with hi tem paint, 5 minutes of sanding will get it lookin new and some paint will be good.

it weird, the right side of my bike looks like a 30K miles bike kinda, and the left side looks show room new except for the tank

Why not clean it out with the rust conversion liquid readily available almost anywhere (even Harbor Freight has it cheap)? Unless it's bashed beyond repair this is an easy way to go. Just remove the petcock, fuel level sender and fuel cap first.

Was wondering through a NAPA store and found an entire rust coating system for bikes. Can't remember the brand but the kit was like 35.00. I'll go by there this morning and get some literature and report this evening.

Schooter, I de-rusted one of mine with phosphoric acid. You buy it at Home Depot or Lowe's as "concrete cleaner." It worked great. I DIDN'T "line" it afterwards, and it's fine.

Do a search for "rust in the tank" and you'll get a few more solutions. As long as the tank isn't rusted through or dented, you can save it.
