The Hot-Rod world is all a twitter.

The "Lost" '63 Pontiac LeMans Tempest "Super-Duty Coupe" surfaced, ... (you guessed it) ... on Ebay.

When the smoke cleared and the bidding was done the Auction closed leaving the old guy who listed the car a big wad of cash.

$226,521.00 Yep. Over two-hundid ann fiddy grand!!!

    Un-freakin-bee-lee-vah-bull!

1 of 6 specially produced cars of which the remaining number is not known for only $226K is a deal in this day. I personally know of a gentleman in Georgia that owns the only 1970 Buick GSX modified by Baldwin-Motion Chevrolet. It is a rotisserie, frame off restoration and is immaculate. Then and Now Restorations is the shop that did the restoration. This gentleman put it up on Ebay and the bidding got to over $750K and he did NOT sell!!! It would take 7 figures for this car to move out of his collection.

Restore the Pontiac to factory race specs and your have a $500K car in your stable. I say, good deal!!!

Plus, if it gets restored, it will save a piece of history from going to the crusher!!

OK, I followed up on this car a bit, and check THIS out:

Pontiac built 6 Superduty Tempest wagons and 6 coupes. So far only two of the wagons and now three of the coupes are accounted for.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE ARE 5 MORE WAITING TO BE FOUND. Only two of the remaining seven are known to have been destroyed; that means there are 5 more out there somewhere.

It took the MIT kids only 9 hours to find all 40 red weather ballons last month; we should be able to find at least one rusty Pontiac...
