another newb 80 XJ650 question

as i said in a previous post im a new owner of an 80 maxim XJ650 and im trying to get it runnng to build it into a memorial bike. rained yesterday so i couldnt tinker with it, but i got to it today after work. i had installed a new solenoid and had it attempt to turn 2x , and now nothing.

previously i had no head light/tail light , only the neutral and oil light blink when i hit the starter. I changed the black box plug that was up top in between 2 coils . i took an original solenoid that i was givin in a trade i did and installed that.

Now i have Head lights, back lights, blinkers and all the dash/odomoter lights work.

When i hit the start button, no starter noise, only the oil light blinking like all bikes that ive seen do when you hit the button.

Now could this mean either the Starter deaded on me, or the Solenoid is no good , including the brand new one i tryed. or could it be 1 of the 2 other switch relays(1 located on the left side near the rectifier, and 1 up top under the frame near where the original fuse box would be.

thank you ahead of time for your responces. Soon as i hear this thing attempt to turn over correctly im sending my carbs out and im d-rusting my tank and gettin her on the road !

 

You need an electrical diagram. Might be theoil switch. Somr models have them but I'm not sure if they interupt start.

 

i was simply stating what functions the bike is actualy doing , my 1st bike was a kawasaki KZ440 , and when i hit the start button the oil light would blink to, sorta like when you turn the key of a car and the lil dash lights blink.

I am wondering as to why im not gettin no starter noise when i hit the start button

 

hows the batt? has it been a while since you charged it?

 

battery is reading 11.68 atm, lights are bright as f***, battery def int low
