Hey I forgot to start a post in here introducing myself. I jummped right in and started posting in the xj chat section.
    Hi all!
    I just picked up a 1981 xj650.
It's been stored outside for a while, is full of mouse nests, and only has 6000+ miles on it. It was a one owner bike, that now needs a lot of TLC.
I'll keep you updated on the progress.
I'm a bit of a gear head, I run a 1972 Dodge Demon at the drag strip.

Welcome; I'm fairly new here myself, also a gearhead. I'm "in the process" of restoring my '72 Duster. Here's a nice Mopar related link; www.forabodiesonly.com
See you there as well? :D

    How's that?
I have pictures of the bike and will post them in a few days when I get the camera unloaded.
It doesn't run at the moment, but give me a day or two.
Fuel tank is clean but I broke the filter so I had to pick one up. Was going to put it on tonight but ended up working a double today/night.
    Maybe tomorrow.

Picture of the Demon was taken on Sept 30th at Lebanon Valley Dargstrip in New York.
Power is from a 446cid. Just put the engine in late this summer, and first time to the track, with no tuning and running thru the mufflers was an 11.83 @ 113. Now it's time to tune it in.

    SWEET

Somehow I knew it was a big block when I speculated.

    I once built a 65 Falcon Ranchero with a 66 Mustang HO 289
T-10 top loader 4 spd trans, 9"rear end.
Cool thing is that all the suspension from the Mustang swapped straight across.
Light little car + big powerfull engine + right gears = 40 MPG!!!
as long as I kept the 2ndarys closed.

    NICE CAR!!!

Damn nice car man! Is it a 3 speed? I was thinking your motor was stock. Good choice, with the 446 cid. That thing must melt asphalt! Is that an 1/8 of a mile drag strip over their?

LVD is a 1/4 mile track.
It has a 3spd automatic 727 Torqueflight in it.
It will spin the tires pretty good, But traction has increased with the addition of the Calvert Cal-Tracs.
