81 maxim 650, not firing on #1 cylinder. any suggestions?

    Tried new plug, doesnt help. not sure how to check the coils. or if thats even the problem. any help is appreciated.

    Can't you swoop 1-4 leads over and see if the problem goes to the other cylinder ? That at lease will tell you if the coil lead is the problem.

    Check the fuel height as well, might be a stuck float.

    floats are fine and free and levels are good. Also tried swapping 1 & 4 did not change anything.

    You're missing something somewhere; The coils each fire a pair of plug wires and fire them BOTH every time (so one cylinder is firing on the exhaust stroke.)

    So if the above statement is for sure true, then it's not a coil problem.

    Have you done a compression test? Maybe there's nothing left in the #1 cylinder TO fire?
