I think you'd be better off just getting the XJCD, as the service manuals are on there for all of the XJ's. It's a better deal, and has a lot more information than just the manual. Just a thought.

    Yamamax,
That's probably true, about it being a better overall deal but 1)I only have 1 XJ so I don't need the manuals for others and 2) I've heard the wait time on the XJCD is rather long.

If you need it immediately, then get the one on eBay. The XJ Cds are far superior though. Not only are there other manuals, but there are also parts manuals, owners manuals and tons of article on things from adjusting carbs to painting. Well worth the money and wait if you ask me.

Yes I did, sorry that I did, the xjcd is a better item.
My first suggestion is to find the paper manual, the cd on ebay is a scanned copy of the manual and a lot of the pictures didn't show up well.

    Just my opinion.

That's what I was worried about. I kinda figured it was going to be a crappy scan job of a manual. Guess I'll just have to wait for the XJCD.

    Thanks guys.

That's what I thought ... another crook trying to make a buck flagrantly disregarding Copyright.

Oh, well ... it happens. Maybe a little too much and too often in these days of ridiculously easy duplicating and copying anything!

Just about the only thing you'll get pinched for is Counterfeiting money.
And ... even though the government is making it tougher and tougher to make phoney money ... you can bet that somebody is at it ... right now!

I know!!! Buy the CD off the guy with a fake $20.00 Bill you color-copied!

    Yea ... that's it!
    That's the ticket.

When the Fed's come and bust you for the fake 20 and find the bootlegged CD ... just Lawyer-up and keep your mouth shut.

I should add to my above note that the xjcd also contains scanned copies of service manuals and a lot of those pictures are also dark images. But it does contain a lot of other useful information which makes it a better buy.

I still say the paper service manual is the best one to own if you can only afford one!

King, I also bought and regret buying one of these manuals on CD on EBay.
My biggest gripe is that it is done in Adobe Acrobat and looks like scanned pages, they are quite clear though.
Back to my gripe, the index isnt usable and you can't just go to page #__
because it is one BIG LONG document.

The quality of the images are really clear and you can zoom in to get abetter look without the image degrading too much.

It is a crooked thing though. If I had known that when I bought mine, I never would have! But they make it out to be legit?!

Brother purchased a vehicle manual CD from E-bay from a fellow. Details on the item listed licenced. It wasn't. Nothing more than a ripped copy. Brother turned pirate in. Buyer beware, I would strongly recommend against purchases of this type from any other source than the manufacturer.

Call me old fashioned ... but, I -- LIKE -- the look of my fingerprints on the pages of certain sections of my OFFICIAL Factory Workshop Manuals.

There's no way the Manual will get scratched-up and become useless.

Plus ... since its been referenced so often ... Sometimes it will flip open to the right spot ... faster than searching a CD.

And ... the book allows you to make notations that are helpful reminders where to look elsewhere for additional information.

I also have the ability to just flip the pages and look for the coffee cup stains on the pages that have the most important details and exploded views.

Try playing that CD with a coffee cup stain on it!

Nothing yet. I guess I ought to write Brad and see what has happend. I've been watching the mail box like a little kid at Christmas since June! Of course I've not checked to see if the check I sent him was ever cashed either. Hummm, might be I need to do a little sleuthing before I proceed with bugging Brad. I'll get back to you Nick.

    Points well made Rick.
    I like books too.

The one thing I did like about the cd is when you find the pages you need you can print them up then take them outside with you and if the do get ruined..... well... oh well.

One more thing, years ago I had a really nice shop and the neighbors garage caught fire in the middle of the night and burned 1/2 of my shop too, I still have the old motors manuals that came out of there and every time I grab one to use it... well it takes me back.

Still, it sure is a pain when the page I need is the one that got burned!

Well, all is well. I was looking at the CD manual because I had been waiting about 3 weeks on a Haynes manual and was starting to think it got lost in the mail. Tonight, when I got home, it was in my mail box. So, I'm definitely not getting the CD manual. Might consider the XJCD at a later date. First I've got to get my XJ running again.

My XJCD took less than 2 weeks from the date I put the check in the mail. Robert, sounds like you should ask Brad what happended.

I wil have to admit that I also have the actual manual in addition to the CD. I do use the manual more often, just because it's a little easier to take in the garage. Not sure the wife would think it's a great idea to keep the computer in the garage so I have easy access to bike manuals! :)

I've found the XJCD to be useful for the diagrams and parts references, as well as the specific write ups for projects on your bike. Definitely worth it.

Glad you manual came, and you're back on the road.

I have the book and the cd, also have an older xjcd. I keep the book clean and in the house and print what pages I need when tinkering from the cd. Her in doors would not be happy having greasy oil stained books around the place and a greasy oil stained old man messing up her furniture. Years ago she thought it was great that my Levi's were so thick with grease and oil they could stand upright and unaided in a corner.

    Faighaigh.
