What do you guys do if you need to tighten a nut / bolt that you can't get a torque wrench onto?

if you have another one just like it, note the degrees it turns till it's tight and do the same to the hidden one

Sometimes I have had to use a wrench because that was all the space I had. What I did was find something else that had been tightened to the same torque value as the one I needed, put the wrench on the correct one, get a sense by feel of how tight it was with the wrench and then conservatively tightened the other one to the same "feel".

    Hope this helps,

Use a "crows foot" wrench in most cases to enable the torque wrench to work "offset" as it were.

Otherwise I use a combination of the two methods above; try to duplicate the "feel" of a similar fastener (nut-nut or bolt-bolt) plus make note of the degrees of turn required.

Most spark plugs have directions on the package that reflect Polock's method.

Come on my friend you're talking to a British bike owner... never a less accessible collection of fasteners than on a British twin.

I have a "U" shaped wrench in my collection, because it's necessary.
    And it's WHITWORTH no less...
