For the USA I would say the XJ900RK Seca. Although the '82 XJ650RJ Seca was also a one-year bike here, they sold a lot more of them than they did the 900s. Not many XS400RJ Secas running around either.

For Europe I really couldn't say, probably any XJ400-4cyl.

How about one of the Maxim-Xs? Say the 750? Also what about that 900 that was only released in Japan and had all kinds of electronics, I'd have to look all through my XJCD to know the full model name.

I guess neither of those were really American or European models (but a couple could have made it there)

The rarest would be something like that title-less 900 in Orlando with the frame mount fairing and 891 CC engine. It's not part of the 1,000 Seca 900's from 1983- - it's out of place completely, only a few would be here, thus a rare model here.

For North America I'd say it'd be a toss-up between the 900 Seca, and the 400 Maxim -- the 400 was a Japanese market import, so very limited numbers.

For Europe - I'd probably go with the 400's as well...

in australia anything under the 600/650. we have never seen any unless by private import and then locked away. until i joined this site i didn't know yamaha made anything smaller. but for what is over here i would say the midnight series

    har har TIMEtoRIDE.

I was thinking of the XJ750D-II, not to be confused with the XJ750D. Only made from 1985-86 for the Japanese home market. A fuel injected motorcycle from 1985, not to be confused with the 750D the 750D-II has an additional 5 horsepower.

Check out pages 65-72 of the "Advertisements" in the XJCD. I bet it would be really interesting if I could read Japanese.
