I sold my bike last summer,so I haven't really been on this site for awhile.I need to check in more often.I still have my gsxr and harley.Needless the say I tried some fixes on my gsxr and made afew mistakes.Went to gixxer.com and asked for help and tell you what,Gsxr riders are total jackasses.I thought harley riders were elitest.I got blasted for asking for help.I guess they have tons of cash to dump into their bikes.Anyway I just wanted to say thanks to the folks on this site for making me feel comfortable with asking for help without getting blasted and giveing me the courage to dive in and try mechanics.I still think my seca was the best bike to ride out of the 3 I have.any way thanks.I do have the headlight fairing on sale at craigslist if anyone is interested.IT is just the fiberglass fairing no windscreen or lenes.thttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-YA ... c2c9bhanks alot and here is link

Found the same atitude as the gixxer folks when I tried a forum for my cavalier (winter beater). I have found the knowledge on this forum is a big help.

Feelin' the love Bean? We miss you too!
Gixxers are great bikes but think of the demographic that typically own them. Too much hubris and testosterone.

I guess I insulted then by calling my 86 gsxr a beater. They were just like "fix it right".I mixed some bolts on the sprocket cover and put a larger one in the hole sending it into the housing that holds the oil.I would have never known what happend until I unscrewed the bolt, which I did and a couple qts of oil poured onto the garage floor.I was kinda pissed at myself.I had to take all the bolts off the oil pan to get the metal out and was suggested to get it welded.Others suggested a plug(home depot)and some locktite.Worked great.Otherewise to get it welded would mean pulling the engine the welding aluminum.Well I learned a lesson.Thank god it only ran afew bucks to learn. Now when I have multiple bolts to remove I tape them to card board in the location they will go back into the part.

i have to say this is easily the best tech forum ive been a member of, ever. you ask a question and somebody answers it without any bs or snappy comments like i get on any other forum. and yes mostly everybody who rides a gsxr is a total d-bag queer.
