    Hey everyone,

Okay I have my xj1100's engine out to fix the 2nd gear. However one of the previous owners to me tried painting the top end black. Now I have a blotchy nasty looking top end. What would the best way be to remove the blackish paint without having to tear the top end apart.

Paint remover is going to make a real mess if you care to go that route. I'd take it apart and get the parts sand blasted (or soda blasted would work)

The engine can be soda blasted then repainted. You did not have to remove the engine to fix the trans in XJ1100. It can be done with engine in the frame.
