So, i'm home for spring break and dug out the seca.

I have my wheels off and am waiting for the new tires to be mounted and balanced (2 days so far)
I have the brake pads ready to go in, they're mounted up i nthe hub.

and now comes the tank... the "new" tank I bought must have been on a bike that sat outside, the tank rusted, then someone came along, sanded it smooth, and spraybombed it silver. (dont you always love it when you find bondo under the paint?)

I've been sanding away the rust for awhile now, decided to take a break from the pruned hands, then im going to hit it back up, and take some pics.

Update #1 Take about 90% done.... just waiting on the clearcoat to dry to install the final decals.... and i probably should hit it up with some 2000 grip to make sure its smooth.

I didnt sand between primer and paint and clearcoat, because I dont trust my skills, and i'm happy enought with how it turned out, this is only going to be a temporary paint until I get it professionally done, all in all i probably have 50 smacks into painting the tank with supplies left to spare... i will post some pics.

I also installed my shocks.... they are very firm and look great
and i installed mygrips, which turn out to be too short by about 1 cm, and they didnt fit over the plastic chunks at the end of the throttle tube... so i dremmeled them off

Did the non throttle side go on super easy? If so you might have put them on backwards.

You do know it is GRIT right? I just wouldn't want you saying GRIP in front of someone in the know.

    1. wet grass is slippary, luckily i didnt land on the tank, because my leg broke the fall.
    2. My speedo doesnt work anymore, after racing a friend and having it buried, I noticed shortly after that it was buried at 0... anyt houghts?
    3. thanks to dfknoll and whoever else reccommened those bridgestones- i love 'em!

That paint looks great for $50 with leftovers. Also i am glad that you like those tires. They are just great on my bike. Last but not least i remember your first thread talkin about those shocks and after seeing them on the bike they look sweet. Hows the bike running (not on wet grass)? lol

One more thing. This may seem like a too easy fix but last summer my speedo suddenly just stopped working to, and after looking at every inch of the cable and examining the gauge it turned out that the cable came unscrewed. Hopefully the fix is as simple as that.

runs good plenty of power, though it needs to be synched and tuned yet, it pops on occasion, but that could be due to the fact that i have no mufflers on.

the cable doesnt appear to be off the speedo... and I put the front tire back on yesterday.... i think im gonna hoist the front end up, spin the wheel and see if thats spinning, if it is.... im gonna be upset

schooter, pull the ft wheel hub unit, clean and re-grease.
My speedo would quit from time to time....everything looked
fine including the hub unit, just looked a little low on grease.
    No probs since.

    The bike looks great Schooter!!
You might want to pull the front wheel again and make sure the "Drive Dog" is installed correctly. It's an easy thing to miss if your not familiar with it. 2 tabs on the "dog" sit in 2 slots on the wheel. It's possible they may have been misaligned when you tightened the wheel and bent them. Thanks! i didnt even look or any alignment or anything lol, just put it in place and slid the bolt through.... ill take a peek tonight

I think this is somewhat note worthy.... i installed a 12V cig lighter outlet in the little box underneath the airbox... so now i can power a gps, cellphone charger, and my portable smoothie maker!!! all while I'm riding my bike...

the instrument panel is black as night. Is it that way by itself or did you paint or otherwise make it that black?

    nice bike!

Are these 3D decals or stick on letters?

I put clear over decals on a Suzuki. LOOKED GOOD!
You have to go VERY slow NOT EVEN 1 coat the first pass of the clear... will cause the decal to bubble.
