2000 Aprilia pegaso 650. Rotax single, hard bags, 30,000 on the clock. Won't start but am leaning towards standard electric issue. Battery, relay, side stand, kill or start button.

He wanted to sell it. Let a friend test drive it. After parking it could not get it started again. was always weak in the battery department. To many no starts and the battery would go dead. Now she is mine, I will love her and care for as she deserves. I will not shed a single tear for the $200 I had to spend.
Yes folks thats right 200. Time to update my signature.

its too late, I already called the police, you stole that bike.

now this can all be over if you just give me the bike and walk away.

The funny thing is the conversation started as, "sure I'll help you fix it" about 2 months ago. Neither of us have a covered work space and this winter has been bad... So I would run into the PO at parties and at the bar and wait for him to bring up the bike. Each time telling him we could probably fix it rather fast, don't worry you won't miss out on any real ride time, find me a garage we can start tomorrow. Then last weekend he said he wanted it out of there. Come look at it, I'll sell it cheap. I went there with 500 in my pocket.
I already own 6 bikes, the house I rent is being sold, and I sort of don't have a job. There was no way I would spend more than $500.
He said 200, I reached down picked up my jaw off the ground and paid the man.
The bike needs new tires, which will probably cost more than the bike.

The Pegaso is better looking (IMO) than the BMW version. Get the starting issue sorted out, tires replaced, and you can sell it for over 10X what you paid (total).

I'm not sure I'm interested in selling it. The bike is very well suited for my location (middle of nowhere desert) But I do need to start fixing it. The house I live in is on the market. Which means I won't be tearing into her anytime soon. I tried bump starting it, but it is a heavy, tall bike and our roads or still littered with small gravel from the winter season. The town hasn't gotten around to running the street sweepers yet. I did get the bike to chuff a few times, it wanted to start.
I'm renting a storage unit, but they lack power. No power means no battery charger. I think I will have to wait until I find my new place.

    *update*
had a few bucks in my pocket and a needed an emotional pick me up.....so I bought a battery just to see. Put it in and turned the key and nothing, not even idiot lights. Grabbed the meter, checked to the main fuse, all good. Moved up the line to the ignition cylinder to check continuity with the key on. Pulled the wires up out of the fairing and found a surprise. There was no nice factory clip, there was just a mess of electrical tape and some zip ties. Cut it open and found that someone had cut out the clip, twisted the wires together, and wrapped them in tape. Several had melted together. Cleaned them up, isolated the shorts, and connected the wires by hand....
And the lights came on, I pressed the starter and she tried to roar to life. I decided to stop while I was ahead. The carbs need a good cleaning and I want to go through the harness before I try to do anything. She will start, I just need to find the time and space. For now she sits with a disconnected battery
