HI there my names dave and i live in lancaster uk i have a divvy 900 1995 24000mls

i know this is my first post but need some advice please .

i have a clicking noise on my forks i have put new oil and seals in but its still there . it makes the noise when i go over a bump and sounds metalic ,could this be the fork bushes ?

i have eliminated everything else such as speedo drive/pad rattle/head bearings/keys rattling/cables catching and even had the fairing off but nothing is loose anywhere .

thanks and sorry to be cheeky on my first post it driving me mad ;-( ..

    dave ..

Don't have any idea if this relates or not. My bike ('81 750 Seca) had 2 metal "shims" on each side (brakes) that made a clicking sound. That was the only thing that I could find. I put a tiny bit of silicon under them and where they rest. No clicking anymore...

Right bud.. there is a forum for this in england anyway.. but that noise your hearing is most likely that fairing... really I know you had it off.. under the headlight... there is that bit that just touches the fairing.. it humms and rattles like there is no tomorrow.. most of us put a sponge in..

anyway pm me.. I will give you my mobile... and also the diversion forum.

good luck.. pps I am in cottingham..

there is a rebound spring in the forks, which just floats about, but clicking is probably the brake pads.

i have tried dragging the front brake and it still does it . what is the castellated plastic thing where the damper bolt goes through in the forks ?? as mine moves up and down about 4mm .should it be shimmed up tight ? what ever it is..

the damper rod shoud be tight, if you have movement there, that sounds like the problem, I would resolve that issue before you do any serious riding.

the actual bolt that screws into the damper rod is tight its just the plastic thing that appears to float 4mm ish around the bottom of the damper rod . its as if it chattering as i go over bumps ?

the part i'm talking about is at the bottom of the inner fork tube held in with a circlip..

go on that forum for these bikes... it will help you to no end.

as I stated give me a bell.. I will do anything I can.. but there are a few bits that you needs to check... and a few more questions that I would ask.. ie when you roll it or walk it... does it make the noise... I know the engines rattle... so with the engine off is it still making this noise?

now what if you coast it... engine off and just ride on it ... is it still making the noise.

if you dip the clutch in does it make it go away

there are alot of reasons I am asking... these bikes are loud at the best of times... anyway take care and talk to you later

YES YES YES i have sorted it at friggin last .. this is what caused it not sure what it does though maybe its a rebound triple clakker valve with inverted dubry watsit? ;-) ,one of the shims was actually a spring washer which had flattened over time so i just re boinged it(bent it back) for want of a better term lol and all the play was taken up and now no click click .. yesssssssss
