Looks ok. Go check it out. My judgement is based solely on the pic as i don't speak or read french.

Looks a great bike for the bucks, but if she hasn't ridden before, I would have thought something lighter & easier to handle, would be better, you don't want her to get a fright & get put off forever.

My 550 was my first bike. As long as she isn't heavy on the throttle she will be fine.

The 4 cylinder XS models were the Maxima, Magma, and the Maximum. I see those models listed quite frequently on craigslist.

Oh yes, I've spotted those rare breeds as well, i may consider adding one to my collection, because I'm sure the PO is an astounding motorcycle enthusiast who keeps an adequate service manual in tip top shape showing maintenance done at or even before the required intervals. All in all they are an astute private seller whose wealth and knowledge humbles even the canniest of average motorcycle owners

Sheesh, that's almost worth driving to buy regardless of shape.

and the $250 is negotiable... I smell a project.

I thought the 550 was a nice "starter bike" too until I rode one; I would NOT classify them as a beginner bike, unless you install an RPM-limiter and set it at 6000.

Well he has been riding the bike for the last 14 years and the carbs are good he says going to look at it this afternoon was supposed to go this am but he couldnt afterall. So the bike is ready to be driven. Personally I think it's a good starter bike and with a bit of coaching she will be fine. I may be wrong time will tell ;)

Yes Schooter she did try the Dyna since its lower and she knows how to take off and stop so the clutch and throttle control is ok for now thats why I said to myself that the 550 was ok to begin with ...

    Wicked price, buy it anyways!!!

If she finds it a bit heavy, look for a Max 400 :)
