What types of other yamaha gas tanks fit on the 81xj650 frame? I'm not a huge fan of the tear-drop shaped tank, nor the giant swoop it puts into the profile of my bike...any tips?

Seriously, others on here seem to like the Harley peanut tanks...kinda small I think tho.

I know a Maxim 750 tank will fit right on there.

I think the 750 tank will look too similar to what's already on it.

first I'd try seeing how it looks with a tank lift, my 81 750 seca now holds 5 gallons and that's all I did.
