Hey guys... 1983 xj750 midnight in rough condition here..

Has 9k miles on it and has been sitting for well over a decade.

I'll be fixing her up over this summer and thought I'd post my progress up here.

So far I redid the fuse box... tore off a couple things like the saddle bag mounts.. Hopefully more will happen over the next couple weeks.

    Hi there,

I saw yourpost about the Midnight Max..........looks rough, but all there at least! You must enjoy challenges!

I was wondering if you were planning on keeping the saddlebags and the windshield (and mounts), if you were plannng on selling those I would be interested in purchasing them.

    Thanks,
    Len

Thanks for the comments guys, the bike is not actually as bad as she looks. It's mostly surface rust and oxidation. Nevertheless, this is definitely going to be an extensive restoration.

Miata is done.. And I'm bored... this will probably keep me busy.. haha

If anyone has any suggestions, they are more than appreciated.

No prob. Hell, if he's close enough to you maybe you could get a good deal on a whole parts bike or something.

On the side of a house.. with a tarp over it... haha

Anyone know if a XJ750j seat is compatible with my bike? I know they look different, but the shape looks about the same.

    This seat:

Now that everything checks out, I'll be tearing her down- hopefully once my finals are over and such.

How much did that kit run you? Did it come from Len?

I need to tackle that project. I hear it is not difficult at all.

That's just a HELLA fuse box and my own terminals

4 dollars on amazon. Took maybe 10 minutes, definitely something worthwhile

Hey good luck with the Midnight. Lots of polishing and tuning ahead, but the harder you work the better the payoff. What're you going to do with the Miata? I had a '97 that I raced with the SCCA - Racing Beat springs, adjustable struts, fat sway bars, roll bar, intake, exhaust, etc. Man I LOVED that car. I'd still have it if it wasn't for an encounter with a damn deer. I get nostalgic every time I see one.

I was going to mod her, but decided to restore an XJ and stay stock. Felt bad tearing up a NA with 40k miles.

This autox season I'll probably be running stock class though.

Thanks, hopefully she'll turn out alright.
