Well, time has come for me to depart from my beloved 1983 Maxim XJ 750. She's been babied, loved, nurtured, cleaned, polished, and never abused under my care. She is now 'trouble free' - buy it, ride it home.

As an older bike, they do need more care and attention to maintain maximum performance. But with two little kids I have a lot less time to give her and as a result I've been riding it a lot less than I like to. So I'm buying a new/newer bike this month. Maxine will only go to a new owner who respects and promises to maintain her.

What I've done to the bike since aquiring it in 2000.

    1. Mike O's Spin-on filter adaptor. Original filter still available
    2. Valve shims done 3 years ago
    3. New tires two years ago and have 1000 km on them.
    4. New handlebars. Original handlebars still available.
    5. Upgraded the carb drain screws
    6. Upgraded all carb bolt and clamps.
    7. New engine-carb boot gaskets
    8. Rear differential fuild change 3 years ago
    9. Carbs done last August before putting it away in October.
    10. New front brake pads 3 years ago. Only 2000km on pads.
    11. New front right fork seal last year. Left seal done year before.
    12. Two years ago - brand new clutch, clutch springs, and friction plates.
    13. Carb balance and colour tune ever spring.
    14. New Iridium plugs (the expensive ones)
    15. Plug caps replaced 4 years ago. Resistance good on all coils.
    16. New right tail light extenstion rubber mount. Have the left one
    but not done yet.
    17. Spitfire windshield that's seen lots of use. :)
    18. OEM Engine gards and highway foot pegs
    19. New handbar grips but one side has some damage from it leaning into the side of my van when wife 'tried' to moved bike
    20. Tank was resealed 4 years ago.
    21. Fuel filter.

    What comes with the sale:
    Of course - a 1983 Maxim 750 with only 49'000km (30'000 miles)
    1. Fork extention socket to do seals
    2. Carbtune II carburator tuning set
    3. Mike O. YICS carb sync tool
    4. Colourtune tool to adjust fuel mixture
    5. Bike cover
    6. Original handlebars
    7. Original oil filter adaptor
    8. OEM Repair and Haynes repair manual
    9. XJ Version 2 CD's
Note: Tools and other materials alone are worth over $500 alone and will help you do your own carb work.

What work does this bike need?
    NOTHING. I fixed everything.

All this for $1700 Canadian (for registered forum members) No I won't ship it. It's a pick it up deal ONLY as you'll need to spend an hour going over in detail the history of the bike. If you don't have time for that, you don't have time for this bike.

You can call me any time at 403-472-7977. Bike is in Calgary Alberta, Canada.

Clutch is fixed. Bike is now $1800. If you already own a XJ and this is an upgrade or another project bike, you can have it for $1700.

I will point out that this bike does come with a YICS tool, fork extension socket, Colortune, Morgan Carbtune, Factory Service Manual, and Haynes repair manual - all worth close to $500. I'll throw in the XJCD's too. This bike is rock solid. I started it up yesterday and drove it around for a while. She's smoother than my new Ninja and the new bull-horn handlebars give her a more aggressive riding position. Bike needs NOTHING done to it.

Exhaust is in near-mint condition and the seat is in excellent shape with no tears or rips.

Buy it. Ride it home and all summer.

    Mr. Fork,

What a beautiful bike. Just from the pic she has been well looked after. Much more so, than the 83 Midnight Maxim 750 I purchased last week for 1000$. I dare say I'll have that priced doubled by the time I am ready to have her on the road! Too bad you weren't out here on the East Coast.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you well with the sale, she is a real beauty!

Thanks. I'm hoping she'll find a home to someone who will keep her in that same condition.

I fixed everything on this bike - it's a 'buy it ride it' sale. Price has been upgraded to reflect current working condition.
