Hey guys im buying another bike. I found a 1996 FZR600 with 9k miles on it. It needs a few things like a wind screen mirrors and a back tire i have access to all of that.

The thing the gets me is there is no title. It has a clean vin it not stolen.

I live in pa and the bike is coming from MD. The owner said he will give me a copy of the vin report and a bill of sale.

Now my seca has a Maryland salvage certificate. I had to go through an enhanced inspection to get a title for it. Can i do the same thing with this FZR?

BTW guy is only asking 600 for the fzr.

it probly varies from state to state. i lost the title for my honda and when i sold it i had to go to the sec. of state with the guy i sold it to and apply for a title.

i'd give the sec of state (or DMV - or whoever handles that stuff for your state) a call and ask if getting plates is gonna be a hassle or not.

    It definitely varies by state.
This XJ is the first motorcycle I’ve bought with no title.

Cost me almost for the title as the cycle…in Texas.

Needles to say I won’t be making that mistake again!

If it's a '96 it needs more than just a back tire. If the front is original you're going to want to replace it too, a 14-year old tire is not safe.

Looks like in PA you just need to fill out the correct forms: http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/home/index.shtml

You did well - trying to get a title for a non-titled bike in PA is an extreme hassle (regardless what the PENNDOT site says). I asked the same question of PENNDOT a number of years ago - unless you just need the parts, stay clear of non-titled bikes.
