While it's not readily visible there is starting to be some damage to the chrome on my exhaust pipes, especially where road debris hits #2 and #3. I'd like to spruce them up and protect them without spending a fortune.

Anbody ever try anything like this COPY CROME?

    How about this?

    Silver Manifold Paint

    All thoughts appreciated!

Plating system looks great but they didn't mention chrome as an available finish.
The silver manifold paint would work but I'm inclined to believe that the existing chrome would have to be roughened up to give the paint a surface to adhear to. The finished product would never look as nice nor as shiny as chrome but would last a few years before needing to be painted again.
If you are looking for long term protection, check out Jet-Hot or similar electro plating possibilities. Expensive but long lived.

Here is a link for the jet hot header coating Robert mentioned.

I don't know of anyone who has tried this but since Caswell is selling it I would have more confidence.

Robert if you look further down the page they list the chrome as an ordering option. In fact they offer Black Chrome, copper, nickle, gold, sliver, and tin kits.

ive seen the silver manifold paint before. I didnt think it it looked all that bad. On this bike that I had seen, the silver painted headers were flowing into a black exhaust. Looked pretty cool. I dont know how it would look flowing into a chrome exhaust? I painted my originally chrome headers with Dupli Color black ceramic High temp paint and they came out decent. Check out my gallery if you want to take a look.

I have been amazed at how good chrome can come up
, I dip a green fibre scouring pad in light engine oil and give it a buff,

I have tidied up some old pipes, forks and rims for old bikes by doing this, then cleaning with solvent to remove oil and spraying pretend chrome onto a rag and wiping over affected area, seems to fill in rusty holes without giving the painted chrome look,

once you get the knack they can come up ok
practice on something you don't love

good for making old roughies look prettier

Thanks Max, I glossed over the top of the page and didn't look too much further. Nice system, wonder how close to perfect the chrome kit could get a set of down pipes? Shape mine are in, it might be easier to simply ship them out to be rechromed (expensive I'm told).
Rob, you did a nice job. I did catch your photos when you originally posted them, they are a nice alternative. Sorry for forgetting them on you.
