    Hey Forum,

I have an 82 XJ 750 with 9000 miles. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced some hesitation at low RPMs out of first gear and if so what was the fix? I will release the clutch and hit the throttle lightly and while the bike is still around 1200 rpms it sort of putters until the rpms pick up and then lurches forward and runs fine. There is a fuel filter on the bike but I don't know if that would be a cause..

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

Possibly the pilot jets on the carbs are blocked or restricted, so it is not until the main jets start to open that the bike responds.

Well there will always be some sort of hesitation around the 3000RPM mark. That's when you switch from the pilot jets to main jets. There shouldn't be a lot just a little wake up. If you have more then that go with markies' suggestion and start with the pilot jets.

i had the same problem - i increased my pilot jets one size and it went away. start it up and let it idle for awhile then take a look at your spark plugs, does it appear you are running lean at idle?

if you have stock airbox and exhaust, you probly just need a cleaning.

airbox and exhaust mods will probly mean increasing jet sizes.
