i was wondering if a badly, and i mean BADLY worn sprocket and loose chain would give the same symptoms as a slipping clutch? i can lift the bottom chain up and down about 2 inches and the top of the chain is darn near the same. and the rear sprocket teeth look almost identical to the ones in this picture... hehe

You need to stop riding the bike and replace the chain and both sprockets.

If the chain breaks, it can come up and BREAK the starter, its mounting points off the case and worse.
