I just picked up a 1980 Hondamatic 400, I am gonna turn it into a 3 wheeler, my dad has had an old manco 3 wheeler frame in the back yard since I was a little kid, I decided last winter to do it, just got the bike and fired it up today, it has a broken float that is plastic in one carb and the other carb has what I think is the pilot screw broken off and jb welded shut. I know some of its history and can't believe that it runs as good as it does, wich is not that good, but if anyone has had one or knows a parts house let me know. Thanks

Girlfriend's got an 82 CM450. It's a bitch to find parts for.. eBay is the best source. Bike Bandit offers OEM parts, similar to Babbitts, but I'm not sure how well that works. I ordered some for my VFR, so we'll see how that goes. Already got some 'shipment delayed 1-4 days' and 'item discontinued/unavailable' messages..

Here are some pics, its missing a shock, one muffler punched out, no electronics work but it will start but no kill switch, front caliper and mc gone, one float is busted, the other carb body is busted. I think my bank account is telling me to build a 3 wheeler, or else a part out. But I think a 3 wheeler would be more fun.

BTW this bike apparently has a magneto? It starts when I kick it over and there is no battery in it.

It's a long way from you, but Jacks Cycle Salvage in Sanford Fl and "The Rebel Warehouse" specialized in Rebel trikes and HondaMatic trikes.
They also ship parts, deal in NOS, and do E-Bay.

Not necessarily. My Norton will start/run with no battery also; all it takes is a nice fat capacitor.

Search E-Bay or other sources for 1978-80 CM400T parts as anything your looking for should be common with the model that had the regular transmission. Also as far as engine parts you can also look under 1978-80 CB400T as they used the same engine. Carbs were changed on the 81's and they also went to totally electric start otherwise engines were still the same and then in 82 they bumped them up to a 450. I have had no problems finding parts for my 1981 CB400T Hawk.

Off road big floater tire type, I have an old frame laying around but it has no suspension, front or back. I am going to have to modify it quite a bit after looking it over good. I will get pics going on a build thread when I get ready. I have a lot of stuff going on but would like to get it done for late summer if I can.

It is a manco, it is pretty obscure from what I have read and little I could find they were sold at coast to coast and used like an 8 horse briggs with a snomobile type clutch. Thanks for the offer, would you happened to have a swing arm for the rear? I was thinking of modifying the honda's not sure, I am thinking that most of the frame will be sacrificed, it really doesn't look like much, but I will try to remember my camera and gets some pics of that up.

now that i think of it, the 225 is a shaftie... so it wouldnt really work. I can imagine you can find a big red rear end cheap..
