Well, i just recently purchased an 82 xj650 maxim.

I got it clean title and all from an estate auction. little over 10k miles. paid $80 for it.

done some minor mods. 27" drag bars. removed broken yamaha emblems from tank, removed pin stripes from tank and plastic covers, removed windshield, sissy & grab bar, luggage rack, and highway bar pegs and lights. lowered it as low as i could for now. took the seat cover off, cut about 3 inches out of the foam and restapled cover. installed a set of rejetted carbs and pod filters. then just started polishing! Ive only rode it around my house, but can already tell its a peppy little bike! and smooooooth, im in love with it already, and have only had it for a couple weeks.

anyone have any suggestions for any other mods let me know! ill be looking for more power and handling as with all my other toys!

You'll easily get your money back from the sissy bar/luggage rack and highway bars.

In fact, if you are interested in getting rid of 'em, shoot me a picture and price on the highway bars.

I do want to get rid of the spare parts. ive got what i took off, plus an extra set of carbs, an aftermarket exhaust, choke cable, etc. ill get some pics of the spare parts.

im not sure if both lights work but will test them out and let you know. id be happy to sell them separate from the highway bars.

hell of a deal dude! and youve already started making it your own. Now that you trimed your seat I'd lose the chunky rear taillight for a more flush mounted aftermarket one. Looks great, keep up the good work!
