Well, now that my carbs are cleaned and working great, I notice that every now and then if I really rip on the throttle through the gears it tends to lag for a 1/2 second or so. Engine revs then i take off, kinda like a NASA rocket launch.

Although, on 'normal' riding conditions I have no problem or slippage on driving. No problem on hills either.

This can be a simple "Adjustment"

Check the Slack on the Clutch Cable by reaching-in and "Twanging" the bare Cable like a Guitar string.

If the actual CABLE is TIGHT ... make an adjustment.

    Easy:
Just loosen the Round Locker on the Thumb Knurl Adjustment and turn the Knurl Adjuster IN to add Slack to the Cable.

When you are sure that the Clutch isn't tight and slipping, ... give it a try with a Slacked Cable.

    If it still slips, ...
You caught it early enough to save the Drivers.

Nobody gets a Bike with a Clutch that lasts forever!!!

I turned in the knurl a bit, and its quiet the improvement. Like i said before, its a very small slip, (in the scheme of things anything is a major problem, i suppose), but as of now it seems a lot better, even when dumping the clutch.

Is this to be expected tho? I mean, being a WET clutch, you're going to have a slight delay, correct? I've used motorcycle oil for years, and PO's are all in the family and have used nothing but motorcycle oil and hightest gas. The bike sat for about 10 years before i got my hands on it tho. didn't notice the slight slip till i got my carbs up and running

The Wet Clutch was Engineered to put the Bike into motion without a big jerk and lurch.

    New Clutches won't slip.
Worn Clutches and Burned Clutches Slip.
Worn-out clutches just don't have enough Friction Material left on them and they lose grip and can't be adjusted further.

    Burned Clutches are ruined.
They have been intentionally slipped Racing and showing-off or horsing around.
The Friction Material becomes scorched and burned.
The Friction material becomes hardened and smooth.

A New set of Clutches is something EVERY Rider DESERVES to insure that the Bike is going to give its BEST Performance in all riding conditions, ... especially for those who like Performance Riding.

Sometimes just changing the clutch springs helps a lot.
