Is this correct for an XJ750 Seca with Hatachi carbs,

Air screws in = more fuel

I assume you are talking about the idle mixture screws...

Turning the screws in (clockwise) = less fuel (because it blocks the orifice at the bottom more).

Nice to see a fellow XJer so close too!

    NO.

AIR Screw IN = Less Air = Less Fuel (with it) = Lean

AIR Screw OUT=More Air = More Fuel siphoned-up = Rich

On that 750 Seca ... Don't do "Turns"
    Try "Depth"
From the Top of the carb Housing -to- the Top of the Screw:
    Preset: 11/64ths.
That might be on the Lean side.
    9/64ths might be "Money".

Technically it's not an air screw. While it's not a fuel screw either, it behaves like one - in = less fuel = lean, out = more fuel = rich.

Old timer's call them AIR Screws.
A few refer to 'em as: "The Idle's"
We call them Pilot Mixture Screws, ... correctly?

I never called a Main Fuel Nozzle an Emulsion Tube 'til somebody else said that Technically that what they were called.
Now, everybody thinks the Nozzle is a Tube.
We do what gets the job done.
