    hey guys,
im hoping someone has done this before, or at least seen it done.
    i have a 1984 xj900 and i want to ditch the anti-dive front end.
Ideally i'd love to add a late-model gsx-r750 or similar front end on it.
Anyone seen this done, or had a crack at it?
I found this one, but cant get any information on what is required.
Bearing sizes, headstem sizes, length of the headstock, etc.

I think that bike looks great - although unfinished i know.
What i would like to do is use the late model front brakes also, basically bolt the whole thing on and be done with it - wheel and all.
any ideas as to how/if this can be done?

Keeping the same rims as the front end you are putting on will simplify it. The rotors and brakes will all just bolt on. However, you have to pay attention to a couple factors. Rim size is one, as your rake and trail will be affected by the different front end as it is. You have some research to do if you want to not change it to the point it doesn't track well. This also is affected by what rear wheel rim size you use, and of course you will have to then find a way to put it on the swingarm etc etc. ( see how one thing leads to another? )

In order to keep stock wheels, you will need to fashion custom spacers most likely and speedo drives could be different. Will the modern rotors fit the original rim, if not are there others that will fit both?

I about gave up on a project becasue of all the factors, but after research and board members helped, i was able to do it on my old Honda. Just take your time.

    Vince :)

thanks Vince. I has kinda going the way of finding a "similar" rim and not changing the read end. Being shaft drive it gets awful difficult at that end. Yes is would not match but as long as it was a close thing, i think id be ok with that.

So if i managed to find a same rolling diameter wheel (width is not so critical at this point in time) i would be well on the way to getting it working? When you played with your old Honda, how did the headstock all come together? were there many custom parts made up for the conversion?

    Tim.
