why the hell is it so difficult to find a "stock" air filter element for an '85 MAXIM-X? emgo makes one for every other motorcycle on the planet, but not the MAX-X.
my back had a k&N and i want to go back to stock but don't want the UNI and frankly don't want to spend $57 for one from yamaha...
Any MAX-X riders know where to get a decent filter reasonable?
    Thanks in advance guys

The K&N; is that one of the kind you have to oil? If not, is it necessary to tweak the mixture settings or rejet?

Doesn't Chacal have Uni air filters for $13 or something? No rejetting required.

Yes you do oil the k&n, and I did not have to rejet the carbs. My local mech told me that he rarely has ever had to re-jet with these filters alone, add a new exhaust and then def rejet.
