Yes I've checked the Bulb.I replaced the swingarm after painting,Reconnected the wiring blocks i had Disconnected to do some Frame painting. Now no neutral light,Bike will only start with clutch lever pulled in(im guessing it thinks it is in Gear, with the neutral light not working.).I've checked the wire from the Neutral switch for continuity, wiring blocks etc .I'm wondering with this safety circuit fault it could have something to do with the TCI.Engine runs fine otherwise.

Have you checked that the switch is working? It does sound like the bike thinks it's in gear.. Same thing happened on my XJR, turned out that the switch was all gunged up.. Cleaned it up, and it all worked fine..

Maybe you gummed up the switch with some paint..

Found my wife's nail polish remover is very effective at removing unwanted paint.. Failing that, acetone (which is what's in nail varnish remover anyhow)

The switch is underneath the crankcase on the left and is virtually unreachable Haynes say engine out job to reach it.

Bad luck.. I assume this is for your 650.. The Haynes for the 900 suggests it's fairly simple..

If you've gummed it with paint you should be able to reach under and ungum it with some acetone.. Try a long earbud or something. If the paint can reach it, you can.. You don't need to take it off, just clean it.

Ah.. My signature is things I actually have, didn't realise you put your entire bike history up, mine would fill most of the page..

Well, it looks reasonably easy to remove from the manual, but on the Neutral switch page, they tell you how to test it too.. Do that first.. But like I said, you don't necesarily need to remove it to clean it.. If you didn't paint down there, try spraying chain or brake cleaner on it, followed by WD40.. Between the two of them you should ungum most problems.. Can't hurt anyhow..

Double check the connectors that go into the fairing headlamp recess. I am sure (on the 600 anyway) that there are two blocks. The smaller block came apart on mine and the neutral light stopped working - meaning starting with the clutch in! I had been overhauling the instruments and then rode the bike. When I turned the bars to full lock in the garage, it pulled the connector out.
