That shows a serious lack of confidence, putting cardboard on the carpet, under the bike. ;o)

    Cardboard under the bike????

I can't set-down a glass of Iced-tea without something placed under the glass unless I want to hear a screaming voice telling me I have no appreciation for fine things, am without a scintilla of couth, was raised in a barn, ... yada-yada-yada ... and better get something under that glass or, ... yada-yada-yada ... didn't my mother teach me ANYTHING at all, ... yada-yada-yada!

"Cardboard" note the nice rug that the bike is on, notice the main stand, hence, didn't want to leave indentations in the rug!!!
NO OIL LEAKS from my toys, if they did, it would be fixed............

8O what year did they go liquid cooled??? i saw the l.c. engine with dual exhaust and assumed it was the crf 250 (wich is nothing to scoff at, they RIP)

i havent been looking at XR's because i thought they were all air cooled. a 650 would be nice! i really want a DRZ because i have leftover go fast parts from my quad that would bolt right up, and they are super reliable.

how is it on long rides (comfort)?

Honda XR650L is air cooled, low on power.
Honda XR650R is water cooled and tons more power than the L model, I believe somewhere around 2000 they started the water cooled engine.
It will run rings round a L model, the only thing better on the L model is the elextric start! the R is only kick, and a bitc% at times to get it just right.

Yeah, its a bummer about the oil here in Louisiana, and me being a brit I get lots of digs at work about it, was going to Florida this summer on vacation but I just cancelled, guess I'll go back to Deals Gap in N.C again!!!!

Anything over 200 miles and my a$$ is utterly NUMB, under 200 is fine,
Ps, the R model will wheelie in 3rd and go for miles and miles...........
Dont bother with a DRZ, not as good as the R, had a DRZ, not impressed with them....

did you leave it stock? they only have 28 hp stock but i have a +5 stroker crank and bigbore jug, ported head w/ oversized valves, fcr41 carb, and cams that are proven for 55hp(on a quad). thats why i want one!

i have always loved xr's, i had no idea they were making them LC'd. (dont see them at the MX track) im going to keep my eyes open, or you could give me yours :)

    No, not stock.
FMF full pipe, big bore kit, aftermarket cam, Edlebrock carb, and a MUST "Case saver" for the chain in case it snaps! when the XR's chain lets go it goes straight through the left crankcase.........

sweet motorcycle, i love the "big red pig." One of my buddies has one I ride from time to time, so much torque! Almost feels like the rear wheel is going to pass the front one.
