Up here in the prairies the winter is just around the corner. It’s time to start thinking about XJ winter projects. My bike is pretty much stock as I only got aftermarket pipes. What mods would you recommend?

One of the best upgrades to do is upgrade the front fork springs with progressive springs. This should get rid of that noticeable softness. I have not done this yet with my XJ750 Maxim but people that have said it makes a huge difference in how the bike handles. Easier turn in and better control. Also been told it takes away that uneasy feeling in rain groves.
While your doing this I would also replace the stock steering head. If you still have stock steering head bearings then you should replace them with tapered roller bearings, which are stock on almost all new bikes, because they are better and last alot longer. Better as in the bike is alot easier to control. I think K & L make a kit for are bike that goes for around 60 bucks. The progressive front springs go for 100 or less. If you need any help in finding these parts i know where to find them on the web.
Oh yeah what kind of aftermarket exhaust are you geting?

I already got aftermarket pipes on my Maxim. Not sure what brand they are but here are few pictures of my bike.

If you got some good parts links feel free to submit them in our Linkssection

Your bike is looking the way I wish my was looking. http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/433931/ This winter I am going to get a new black pain job on the tank and fenders. New aftermark exhaust, tapered roller bearings, progressive springs, and new head gasket.

Getting ready to move my bike to my buddies garage and tear down the carbs (bike sat for 2 seasons) and give them a good cleaning, replace my mufflers and tires, change oil etc. So far this fall I've replace the Stator and Rotor (finally found a flywheel puller from Pro Motion), voltage regulator, and the spark plugs. I drained the tank, put in some fresh gas and a squirt of Ether, and she fired right up, Good news is she's charging great, the bad news is I was so digusted with Yamaha and my local dealers I let it sit with gas in the tank and carbs. I knew better, but when your pissed off you don't always make the best decisions. Then its time to polish, polish, polish, and get her inspected. I'm really excited that its running again, and if all goes well I'll be planning a trip from Pennsylvania to Ontario for the summer of '06, I think I may need a chase vehicle though....
