Exhaust system - for what?

    A little while ago I bought an exhaust system from ebay to go on my 83 XJ650. It's completely black, and the mufflers are not tapered.
    Looks like it will fit and everything but just wondering why it's black, front to back. It has Yamaha stamped right into it and says it's for motorcycle 49A0599. It has a crossover pipe just in front of the mufflers, as well as down at the bottom just back of where the four collect into 2 pipes.
    Any ideas? After all the talk of re-jetting carbs to deal with aftermarket exhaust systems I wonder if I will have to deal with that.

    Midnight Maxim's have an all-black exhaust, but they have baffled megaphone tips like all the other Maxims. Maybe someone changed the exhaust tips??
