Just finished replacing steering bearings, fork seals and oil, and brake pads. All back together and rolling. Thanks to all the previous posters, reading up last night helped a lot today. One hitch: left turn signal is fine, right does not light front or rear, but it clicks very rapidly and audibly (with engine off). Wires got tugged a little today as I did the whole thing without undoing any wires or cables. I just left the bars, instruments, headlamp and all on the top triple clamp suspended from above as the stem exited bottom. Worked great and I really don't think I pulled on any wires more than a little. 81 Maxim 650. Mine for 3 weeks now. Pretty psyched now that it turns. :D Any ideas? Thanks.

No lights and really fast clicking = short circuit (probably in one of the sockets).

Disconnect the turn signal pigtails one at a time (rear - under the seat, front - in the headlight bucket), check again. With just one bulb connected, the relay should come on, but not cycle. This should help you narrow it down...

    Agree with Stereomind on this.

Need to take a peek under the fender etc. where the wires enter the hollow bolt. They like to short out here like on my XS400

    That's an easy fix.
Pull the Amber Lens Cover off.
Undo the Reflector and get to the back of the Socket.

Find a spot where you can splice new wire.
Cut, splice, solder and heat-shrink a new 12V Supply to the Socket.
Run it out the Light Stem.
Put it all back together nice.

Thanks for the replies. Got me started down the right path. Fr Rt signal wire was worked bare about half an inch from the socket and shorting in the slot where it exits the chrome body. Easy fix from there. Thanks again. -Dan
