    I'm trying to be a sneaky girlfriend and get my boyfriend some new grips for his bike, but I don't know what size he needs.

    Can anyone tell me if the grip size on a XJ700N Maxim (1985) is 7/8 or 1"?

    Right... one will be 1'' for the throttle side and the other will be 7/8".

    Buy a set for 7/8 bars, it will come with one slightly larger for the throttle side.
